「より有益で、より効率的な研究をデザインしよう」

近年、心理学における実験結果の再現性が疑われる事態が生じています（Open Science Collaboration, 2015, Science）。この心理学の危機に対して、従来の心理学研究における慣習の問題点と、その解決法が指摘されてきました（参考：池田・平石, 2016 in 心理学評論特集号）。今回、科研費・挑戦的萌芽研究「社会心理学の再現可能性検証のための日本拠点構築（代表：三浦麻子・関西学院大学教授）」と慶應義塾大学・三田哲学会の共催により、こうした動きの最前線で活躍されているDaniel Lakens博士（Eindhoven University of Technology）を招いて、講演会とワークショップを企画しました。

従来のやり方をただ批判するのでは、研究活動がただ息苦しくなるだけです。しかし、実は昨今の議論を活かすことで、よりinformativeかつ、よりefficientな研究デザインが可能になる可能性があるのです。今回はその内容について実践的な講義と、発展的な議論を予定しています。奮ってご参加下さい。

Designing more informative and more efficient studies

Recent discussions in psychology have led researchers to acknowledge that the inherent uncertainty encapsulated in an inductive science is amplified by questionable research practices. In the morning of this workshop, I will explain how to draw better inferences from a biased literature. I will show how you can interpret the evidence in sets of studies, and prevent yourself from wasting time by building on unreliable findings. Furthermore, I’ll help you to meet increasingly widespread requirements to justify the sample size in your studies. Finally, I will explain unexpected benefits of pre-registration, which enable non-conventional designs (e.g., one-sided tests, sequential analyses) that will allow you to become a more efficient researcher. In the afternoon, we will discuss more advanced topics, such as the philosophical differences between the Neyman-Pearson approach to statistics and Bayesian statistics, Open Science, Publication bias, Meta-analytic thinking, and we will interactively discuss issues that are raised by the audience.
