昨日はカアラさんが研究室に来て~~くださって~~協同研究の打ち合わせなど．昼食のためにこの3年弱で初めて学生食堂で食事をした．カアラさんは「鍋焼きうどん」を注文されした．確かに鍋焼きうどんのような形状をしたものが出てきた．といっても素うどんの上に卵が割り入れてあるくらいのものだ．しかしそれだけでは終わらない．なんと，その卵の横に

が添えられていたのである．これじゃハムエッグうどんである．エネルギーを常に欲する若い学生たちのための工夫かもしれないが，決してこれは関西の習慣ではないといえよう．私には初めて入る食堂で鍋焼きうどんを注文する勇気はないので，カアラさんのチャレンジャー精神には敬服するばかりであった．

昨日の打ち合わせでカアラさんが1冊の参考文献を持ってき~~てくださっ~~た．その中で役立ちそうな論文をざっとピックアップしたら，会議抄録や本の一章などが多い．うーん，これは手に入りにくいかも，と思ったが，著者名＋論文題名の切れっ端でぐぐると，ものの10分ですべてが入手できてしまった．いい時代になった．

共著者からコメントをもらった論文を最終的に修正して投稿準備．どこの雑誌とは言いませんがなんとわかりにくい「投稿の手びき」であることか！　「手びき」内の前後間および図と文章間に潜む矛盾に苦しみながら，なんとか「多分ダメではないだろう」仕様に整えて印刷，コピー，郵送手続き完了．総務が仕事納めで閉まってしまったため，ポストに投入しにいかなければならない．別に今日出しても年明けに出しても同じじゃん，という意見もあろうが，私は年明け1/9まで日本にいないんである．

で，ようやく英語論文に手をつけられたのは15時すぎ．しかも思ったより主査（というか編集委員長）からのコメントが多く，すぐには対応できなさそうだということが判明．ちょっと凹む．まあ，載せてくれそうな気満々だからいいんだけど．お腹もぐぅぐぅ鳴ってきたので2時間弱ですぐに対応できるところだけ直して後は明日と明後日回し．年内に終わってしまいたい．頑張ろう．
